Melanie Stewart is one of many people to come down with a new disease and only one doctor seems to have the cure. Since others were given the same thing and are still alive and well, she decides to go ahead and take it. What she wasn't expect, though, were the weird side-affects and her new fascination with eating humans.

As the government finally realizes what has happened, they collect and quarantine any that have received the "miracle cure" in central Montana. But those inside the quarantine zone are not happy, and they are getting restless. A war ensues and the quarantined escape back into the world. It's every man, or "zombie," to himself. People are encouraged to turn in their neighbors for a reward. Those suspected of the cure are help in isolation camps, while those confirmed are burned.
