Brief Author Bio: I was born, raised and still live in the Silicon Valley. (I remember when it was principally used for growing fruit!) Computers were then born and took over the valley. I'm sure glad because I would hate to have to type my Nano story into an Apricot. (Phantom says that would be the Pits.) I like to spend time watching Nascar, reading, sewing and playing with my pet rat Mickey, who according to the History Channel is bigger than the largest Norway Rat in recorded history. When he wants a peanut, he gets it. Good luck to all the Nanos out there! |

Synopsis: Checkered Paradise
Callie Gray had the perfect life… she was an up and coming racecar driver in NASCAR, and was dating NASCAR’s latest rising star, Jake Miller. Jake was the love of Callie’s life… they had their whole future planned out. Then the unthinkable happened- a nasty crash into Darlington Raceway’s concrete wall put Jake into intensive care. When he awoke, he had no recent memory… and no memory of his relationship with Callie.
Callie wanted so desperately to tell Jake some fantastic news… they were going to have a baby! But as the weeks went by, Jake’s memory showed no signs of returning, and he was paying more attention than ever to evil vixen Jacinda Carmody. Jacinda’s father owned a race team and had promised Jake a job as soon as he recovered. Unable to take the pain of rejection any more, Callie gave up her job as a racecar driver, packed up her things and moved as far away from North Carolina as she could go without leaving the United States.
The tiny town of Kailua, on the back side of Oahu, Hawaii, was the perfect place for Callie to disappear from the world and raise her son Cody. Life was going well despite the fact that Callie missed her friends and career in NASCAR- most of all Jake. Then one day the unthinkable happened… the door to the Paradise Lost Bar and Grille, where Callie worked as a waitress, opened and who should stroll through the door but Jake Miller. Jake Miller… and his intact memory.
Not only was Jake’s memory as sharp as ever- so were his math skills. He figured out that Callie’s baby had to be his. Not to mention the fact that the boy looked just like him. Callie didn’t want Jake to know about Cody out of fear he’d try to take him away from her. When he finally confronted her about their son, they tried to be tough with each other, but the fires of the passion they once shared were burning hotter than before. Can these two former love birds repair their fractured relationship and become a family? Stay tuned for future excerpts of ‘Checkered Paradise’.
