Synopsis: Twilight's Dawn
The God, Pax, is trapped in the world due to his brother's meddling, and it's up to the mortal Corin to help set things right.
Excerpt: Twilight's Dawn
Light replaced the darkness, and then both were made to coexist. This was a most astute compromise, and one that even he could appreciate, or so it was thought. But nothing made him happy. Nothing that was done could assuage the anger, not even when the eddies of breath exhaled the flora and fauna, the people and their cultures. There was no thought as to how to reconcile, and when he used a sharp stone to cut his wrist, confusion reigned. Why? Why would anyone do such a thing?
Even when the single piece of hair was plucked from his head and made into the sharpest of quills could no rhyme be found in this turn of events. And even stranger still was how he had used his blood to recreated and mar the wondrous things that had been made. The perfection of all was tainted with his anger and hatred and it turned the integrity and superiority of the new world into a mere shadow of its true form.
The waters turned to salt, with the tears of sadness shed for the abomination’s birth, and a vow to preserve what could be saved was etched into the winds that scurried over the plains. They would have their lives and live them to their fullest, but the compassion and goodwill instilled in them from the start began to make war with the new evil that permeated them.
And as he stood, face to face with his brother, he aimed the bloodied tip of quill at his brother’s heart and threw with all his might. Knowing that the weapon held all his power, there was only one way to survive, and that was to deny him the entirety of being.
In a flash of light, three spheres spread where there was once but one man, an the quill pierced the middle sphere, even as the other two were violently flung to the far reaches by the impact. The sensations of evil surrounding and permeating and asphyxiating were painful to bear, even if they were felt only in the mental and not the corporeal.
The pierced one could not move from the spot where the weapon held it against its will, and the sphere could only make out the other for a brief moment before it was lost behind the horizon, where it fell to who knows where. Just as I fall, just as I die...
