Chapter Four
The Brake In
The smell of pizza filled the kitchen as the oven bleeped the announcement that it was done and, if you left it in a moment more, the promise to burn it to a crisp. Eliana quickly grabbed the oven mitt and opened the oven, reaching in to bring out a large pepperoni and cheese pizza. “Oooooh,” Adrianna said as she watched Eliana set it on the counter. “You have no idea how good the smell of pizza is after eating the cafeteria’s supposed “meat loaf.” There is nothing worse in the world then that!” “If it’s so bad then why did you buy it?” Eliana questioned. “I’m young and naïve, plus they had kiwi with it.” Adrianna explained with a wide smile. Elianna just gave her sister one of the “oh my gosh” type of stares as she grabbed a knife and started to cut the pizza. “When will Dad be back?” Adrianna questioned as she watched her sister, ready to pounce once she was done cutting. “Around six o’clock,” Eliana replied. “That was an hour ago,” Adrianna pointed out. “Ya, well it’s a faculty meeting.” “Ahh, that explains it.” Finally, Eliana had finished with the pizza and Adrianna flung herself over the counter, grabbing the biggest slice of pizza. “Gee, hungry?” Eliana commented amused. “Cafeteria Meat Loaf,” Adrianna repeated through a mouth full. “Did you hear that?” Eliana asked, appearing to be listening intently to something. “Hear what?” Adrianna asked taking another bite. “I thought I heard footsteps outside.” Eliana said. “You’re imagining-” “Shhhhh,” Eliana ordered, and then whispered. “There they are again.” Slowly she inched over to the back window. “Stop it.” Adrianna whispered back setting her pizza down. “You’re freaking me out.” Eliana unconsciously gripped the knife still in her hand tighter. Suddenly there was the sound of a door opening. “Girls!” Amer yelled. “In the kitchen!” Eliana yelled relieved. Amer walked into the kitchen as he was swinging around his car keys. “What have you guys been up to?” He asked taking a piece of the pizza. “Gosh, you freaked us out!” Adrianna informed her heart still racing. “What are you talking about?” Amer asked as he took a bite of his slice. “You walking around the backyard.” Eliana explained placing the knife on the counter, releasing her death grip on it. “What are you talking about?” Amer asked concerned placing the pizza down on the counter. “I wasn’t in the backyard.” “Oh my gosh!” Adrianna exclaimed panicking. “We are so going to die! This always happens in those horror movies! We are so dead!” “Adrianna calm down! what are you talking about?” Amer questioned his concern escalating. “There where footsteps outside!” Eliana explained, her heart beating faster and faster. “Right out back!” “Are you sure?” Amer asked walking over to the window and looking outside. “I have never been more sure of something in my entire life!” Eliana replied walking over to stand by her sister. Amer continued to watch outside, hoping it was just his daughters imagination, but just as he was about to look away a dark figure suddenly moved across the lawn steadily inching toward the house. With out saying a word to the girls he immediately ran into his room. Instinctively the girls followed him. As soon as he entered his room he went straight to the old oak dresser and opened the top drawl, pulling out a small gun. The room was rather small and had it’s own bath room and small closet. The bed was in the middle of the room and beside it was a large window. “Stay here,” He ordered and with out a word he walked out of the room and to the back door. Quickly he checked the case and then opened the door and quickly fired at the dark figure. What ever it was took three bullets before it fell to the floor, and then about two more hit the door behind Amer, one grazing his Right arm. He quickly ran back inside and to the kitchen, grabbing the biggest knife he could find, and placing the gun in his back pants pocket. Just as he was about to go back the sound of men entering the house could be heard. Amer hurriedly chose a place behind against the wall next to the hallway as he heard the men continue to come in and slowly walk down the hall. Suddenly one appeared before him and with out any hesitation Amer attacked him. The man was stunned by the sudden attack, which gave Amer the upper hand, and within moments the man was dead on the floor. Turning around to see down the hall Amer was hit greeted by another man who swung and punched him in the face. The man swung again but this time Amer caught his arm and twisted it to the side noticing a peculiar symbol on the mans sleeve. He’s seen that symbol before, many times. Seeing Amer momentarily distracted the man hit him the face again with his free hand. Amer staggered back a few steps but quickly regained his composer and lunged at the man stabbing him in the gut, but just as he did another man appeared out of the corner of his eye. Amer instinctively ducked as the man swung a knife at him. Before he could swing again Amer blocked the arm with the knife, sliced him at the inside of the elbow, and then cut his throat. Another man appeared down the hall and threw a knife at Amer. Not able to get away fast enough, the man hit Amer in the left arm. With out a second thought Amer ran into his room, where the girls where cowering in the corner by the bed, and quickly closed and locked the door behind him. “Adrianna, Elaina get up quick!” Amer ordered. The girls did as told and stood up. Amer walked to the other side of the room and opened the window, then handing Eliana the gun he said, “I want you to take this it still has four bullets left. Aim before you shoot and if worse comes to worse it should be enough to get you and your sister away from here. Listen to me I want both of you to go to the transportations and go to the planet Sabre. Once you get there I want you to find a young woman named Victory Madison, or a man named Gabriel. The girl will have long silver hair, and the man will be very tall with black hair. When you find them I want you to tell them what happened and that Damion is up to something, and he caused this. Understand?” When the girls didn’t answer he asked louder. “Do you understand?!” “Yes,” Eliana replied quietly scared to death. Their was a loud pounding on the door. “This is very important Elian, I want you to protect your sister, alright? Sabre is a crimanel planet, trust no one, not even the humans. Understand?” “Yes,” She replied more confidently now. “What if the girl or the guy doesn’t help?” “They will, trust me. Now get out.” Amer motioned to the window. Loud pounding was heard on the door again. Elaina immediately did as was told and climbed out of the window, waiting outside for Adrianna. “Adrianna,” Amer addressed, “climb out of the window.” “Aren’t you coming with us?” Adrianna asked as a cracking was beginning to be heard. “No, I’m afraid not,” Amer replied quietly as another crack was heard along with a splintering of wood, “but you have to, now!” The door crashed upon and five men walked into the room. “Adrianna go now!” Quickly Adrianna climbed out of the window and both her and her sister ran into the dark of night. The five men began to attack Amer at once and within moments he was down on the ground with one man holding him in a kneeling position and another tying his hands behind his back. “Well well well, honestly I thought you’d put up a better fight then that.” A tall dark skinned man said walking into the room. “The Colonies made you soft General.”
