Prologue

Amazing how the realm of science has escalated to the level it has in such a short time. It seems only yesterday that the automobile was invented, or the vaccine for the flu, such simple accomplishments in comparison to that of the Zeta Company. Privately owned and operated, the company lies underground from the rest of the slumbering world in which its experiments and results are unknown even to the government. Down far below the ground of public knowledge and decency lies a lab. In this lab lies several test subjects, some home grown on one of the levels, some where acquired by any means necessary. In the case of subject 2256, she was ‘escorted’ from her family by ‘kidnappers’ who left only one note telling them to give up hope of ever finding their daughter. All this happened when she was small, poor thing can’t recall a thing of her life before that, whether intentional or not is up for debate.
These so called robbers were employees of the Zeta Company and they had desired to use her in their experiments due to increased brain activity found rarely in natural born humans. From her early age she first remembers white walls, sterile. Fuzzy memories come to mind about injections and radiation, perhaps a bit of fringe science thrown in there in which only the scientists conducting the research would know.
The entire purpose of the company was to create a superior human breed, one that had astonishing powers, previously thought impossible by man, such things as psychic abilities, human-animal transmutations, among other such concepts. These ideas and experiments were rejected from the government as being to risky and would require the testing of human subjects in order to get any real outcomes. So the scientists turned towards the rich and bored, offering high ideals of a human race designed by them that would change the world forever, lofty words and smiles make for easy transactions and funding.
Once the girl had been acquired her previous life was erased off the planet and she was reborn as a test subject housed in a cell made of white walls and endless doctors flitting to and fro around her. After a while she was desensitized by her world and found a sense of order from the routines of tests, injections, radiation, and whatever else the doctors did. The years floated by and in her sixteenth year changes are made to her lifestyle. It is in this sixteenth year that the story truly starts…
