Excerpt: Impedence
Kelly’s eyes lock with Cameron’s the moment he reenters the dining area. Miffed, not pissed. Good.
“One is not amused with your antics, Cameron. This is our getaway. You promised.”
“I know, baby, and you have no idea how much I appreciate you not storming out on me as soon as the phone rang. I just had one little bit of business to do before I could be totally free for the weekend.” Cameron lets a slight smirk appear on his face. “We got Comport.”
Kelly visibly suppresses excitement, remains demure. “Good for you, mister.”
“Come on, you know I’ve been busting tail for this--”
“2005 Bond Pluribus, sir, madam?” says a waiter at his side.
Cameron’s jaw falls open. “Jesus Christ, Kelly!”
“What? You said to get a nice ’05 cab, so I did. Even?” Kelly takes her own chance to smirk.
Cameron eyes the seven hundred dollar bottle, eyes Kelly, says, “Even. Pour it.”
