Excerpt: Faerie Deals
One goblin, hiking up the scanty trousers he wore, was addressing a pack of small, blue skinned flower fae.
“We en’t any need of human,” the goblin was saying. “We’ve enough as it is.”
“Good price,” replied the leader of the fae. “We give you for good price, you pay us, we give you good price.”
The goblin shook his head again, tusk turning so quickly that one fae had to duck quickly out of the way or be taken out of the air. “We en’t any need,” He repeated. He pointed at the naked boy the fae dragged behind them. “That boy’s rotting, no good selling rotting flesh.”
The fae jerked the strands of spider-silk holding the boy captive with surprising strength, causing him to fall forward onto his knees. “Sell as slave,” the leader groaned. “Fae have no want of human, human is unentertaining.” Then he returned to his previous tactics and added, “fresh from human world, you buy, we give good price.”
