Excerpt: The Alpha System

Alpha Four Insect C is a huge insect which feeds on fish. Alpha Four Insect C mainly lives in on the costal regions along Ocean A on the eastern coast of Northern Continent on Alpha Four. It has small pockets along other costal regions as well but these pockets are all differentiating subsets.

The Alpha Four Insect C has large wing structure and a very relatively small rounded bullet like body which is very compact. The wings are thin membranes held in structure by 4 large extremely light bones. The wing is hinged in the middle to allow for better control over flight and because the bones grow separately.

Alpha Four Insect C starts life as a ground dwelling bug which is only able to move very small distances by maneuvering its proto wing limbs. As it grows toward adulthood the wings fully form and the very strong membrane between them grows and they begin to be able to take flight. When they land they are only able to sit on their mouth/anus area so once they are able to take flight they spend most of their time flying. They have gills which open and close with the same muscles that control the wing beats along the top of the body. They have two lungs which lie atop the digestive organ and toward the rear of the body.

The Alpha Four Insect C has 3 eyes. These eyes lie in a vertical line along the front of the body. The eye on the top of the body is able to view above, there is an eye which is mainly able to look forward, and an eye which is mainly able to watch below the animal. Each eye has developed for different tasks. The lower eye is used mainly for spotting prey. They are linked by a brain which lies at the front of the body.

Alpha Four Insect C is able to communicate with others by wing movements.

Alpha Four Insect C has a thin line of very small hairs that surround its midsection for flight control information. Underneath these are small air sacks that also give information.

Alpha Four Insect C has a mouth that is also its anus. This opening attaches directly to the digestive organ. When it captures a fish it can capture it whole or bite part of it. Alpha Four Insect C has teeth but not a very strong jaw system. Its teeth are not perfectly aligned so water that is captured quickly falls out of the animal. Once the water has been released a membrane slides across the inside of the teeth and allows the digestive fluids which are released from a gland only once the membrane is closed to work without being released. Once the animal is digested (which can take several days for a full digestion of a large animal) the membrane slides back and the teeth open to release any indigestible parts.

Alpha Four Insect C can also fill its digestive organ with air and seal it in with the membrane when it under goes a long flight.

Alpha Four Insect C has no significant circulatory system because its body is so centralized.

It reproduces sexually. The female lays eggs in shallow water pools which it digs out by grabbing sand into its mouth and moving it. The female will then leave a partially digested animal in the base of the pool to feed the eggs. The male then fertilizes these eggs. After devouring the carcass which is left behind the larvae often devour smaller siblings until 1 or 2 are grown.
