Clockwork Engineering
an excerpt
Written November 5:
"Mr. Johnson, I just saw a clock by a new manufacturer, the mechanism appears identical to your design!"
"Who's the maker? I can't stand for this!"
"It's Richardson. It's at the clock shop in downtown Hendersonville."
"Well, I'll see about that. What is it that makes someone steal a design I sweated over for a year and a half, making and testing models... that person is like - like a pirate at sea! Just taking over and stealing my idea. There ought to be a law, I tell you!"
Written November 7:
"Wow, the meat! It really is cooked already! How in the world did that happen?"
John smiled. "I told you, Margaret, that was my goal, to see if things would cook faster under pressure, where water has a higher boiling point and the food gets to a higher temperature. Looks like I was right!"
"John," suddenly Margaret's voice was filled with concern an accusation. "You're not getting involved with the occult, are you?"
"Janet, no! You should know be by now, I don't believe in that crap. I don't understand why YOU believe it, or especially why you thing I would."
"Well, I just know it's a dangerous thing, it's unbiblical and unChristian."
