His fans packed the theatre full; it was as if they were rushing the stage as Greeks trying too take on the walls of Troy. His fans waiting for a display of charisma and confidence they may or may not have seen before, that could inspire you to give peace a chance and change the world. They waited in vain, Charlie didn’t do his usually story telling routine of telling the story of when he wrote a song and playing it allowing the fans to sing along and having a general good time with his own show. Instead he made them turn out all the lights so no one could see anything but his silhouette against the darkness, which isn’t a clear image.
He performed only new songs with a full band; the songs were rough being written days before, and had a totally different feel and sound to them than his other earlier work. Most in the crowd didn’t know what was going on cause the songs had no introductions but were just played. Music reviewers would later go on to say the show was a stunt for him to get more attention cause he needed a new hook too keep his career going, but I know this is also wrong. He couldn’t go on stage, the one place he used to love being had become his enemy, all because she took it, she took his confidence. He could no longer face a crowd and total darkness was his way of facing the problem.
