Excerpt: Inside

It seems like hours have gone by. I'd be lying if I said I'd figured it all out. I still can't see my body. I can't seem to make myself real. But I can feel almost everything now. I can walk again even though I don't have legs. It's not much but it's far less disorienting than floating everywhere. The motion is comforting. It's an odd thing to say because I hate walking. I'll do anything I can to avoid it. But in here, for the first time I'm years I'm finally glad I can just trot around in circles. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic now. If I can feel my body it's only a matter of time before I can see it again. I know this to be true. In my currently theoretical guts I know I'm on the right track. After this everything should be a piece of cake. Maybe I should imagine myself some cake...
