Brief Author Bio: Other than books and trees, my life is consumed by pets. I have four cats, a dog, a rabbit, a fish, twelve tortoises, eleven turtles, and dog. (a few birds, too, but I hate them and never see them so they don't count!) Also two strays who live outside and eat our cat food and the neighbor's cat who comes over, eats, naps, knits, loves on us, eats some more, and leaves. All together, we have about fourty pets. Oh, yeah, I'm a vegetarian...naturally. =) |

Synopsis: The Lighning Strike
(onto idea #2-- and NaNo #2!)
After Zach saves Emma from sure death at the hand of Atrus Makita, a spark races through his whole being. He can’t make sense of it for the life of him, but soon finds out that Emma felt it, too. They are the King and Queen over all, and that spark unites them. As the two spend more and more time together, Emma burns through Zach’s soul like a lightning strike. He will do anything to protect the woman he’s grown to love, just as she will protect him. Their love trumps anything being the Kahi could ever make them feel, and Zach wants to spend eternity with her.
Atrus, however, is not one to give up easily. He will do anything to have Emma’s Magic, and he will let nothing stand in his way.
Excerpt: The Lighning Strike
A silver burst of light suddenly knocked her to the side and it felt like the wind had been knocked out of me. I realized what was happening, whirling around to face whoever had hit her, sending my own jinx at him. But as mine raced towards the fiend, a red light was coming towards Emma. Fast. And she wasn’t moving.
Not thinking about it twice, I threw my arm around her waist and pulled her out of the way just before the curse went past her. I gasped for breath, my Magic racing through me with a speed so intense it could have knocked me out. And then my heart-- any second now, it was going to jump out of my chest. What the hell was this?
I took another struggling breath as Emma’s hand locked over my arm, her fingers closing over my shirt near my chest. I blocked the enemy’s curse from hitting us, still able to keep her up. I kept my palm facing him, prepared, but that didn’t stop me from thinking. . . This-- this current, it was from her.
