Two Pink Lines
an excerpt
“I’m sorry, but my stomach is feeling a bit upset still, I’ll make it up to you later.” I promised before prying myself out of his grip and turning to walk out of the bathroom. Precious was sitting at the door to the bedroom, and when I opened it she bolted towards the kitchen. I grabbed my robe, and followed her down the hallway. I looked out the sliding glass door to my left that led to the backyard, and saw that the sun was peeking out through the slats in the fence. When I got to the end of the hallway I slipped the robe on before stepping onto the tile floor that separated the kitchen from the rest of the house.
I opened the fridge and got out the eggs and bread. Twisting the bread open I put two slices into the toaster before bending over and pulling a frying pan out of the cabinet below. After turning the stove top on to warm the frying pan and oil I turned to start the already prepared coffee pot. The shower started going in the other room, and Precious was steadily rubbing back and forth on my legs signaling she was starved. I poured some seafood flavored nibblits into her food dish, and got to frying two eggs. As soon as the eggs hit the frying pan the nausea made me turn to the sink and dry heave. Thank god Jon was in the shower still and hadn’t heard that. All of a sudden I remembered when my last cycle was and the thought made my heart skip a beat, could this be the moment we had been waiting for?
