Elspeth
an excerpt

When the branch broke above the children's heads, they did not stop to ponder it for longer than a second. They had been in the woods for nearly two hours, and although neither child knew where they were, neither cared to admit it to the other. After jumping over the fallen branch, the boy and girl, hand in hand, made their way through the forest and past the multitude of seemingly identical trees; everything looked the same to the children, but this was something that they would only worry about until necessary.

The Faeling watched from its perch deep in the oak tree. Having heard the weakness in the branch long before it separated from the tree, she was able to flee from it before it snapped and allowed attention to where she hid. She wanted to be unseen and unheard, for her prey, although human and children ones at that, could be unneccesarily difficult if they knew what followed them. And she wanted so much for this to go well, for if the children screamed and alerted the adult of their species, or worse, Prowlers, the Faeling would not be able to complete her plan.

"We are lost," said the girl. "Again."
