Brief Author Bio: I'm a Kinsey 4 who's happily engaged to my beautiful life partner, Zanne Chaos. I write almost exclusively fanfiction, with my three NaNo excursions taking me first into the Escaflowne fandom, and then into the Fullmetal Alchemist fandom, where I seem to have planted my rear end and refused to move from. |

Synopsis: Pandora's Box
Edward and Alphonse Elric. The Elric brothers. Hardly can one be found without the other close by, and hardly can the deeds of one not be credited to them both.
Their story is tragic and beautiful, a brotherly bond that far surpasses even the most intense of familial connections, primal and dark and written in a blood seal, love given shape in the form of a simple eight-pointed star and hook.
Where one went, the other followed. When one fell, the other held him up. When one cried, the other gave his shoulder. Both so uniquely different and yet so deeply connected that it was sometimes hard to see where one ended and the other began. Yin and yang. Superman and Kryptonite.
They made a long and painful journey together, met many people, saw many things, and shared every step, every tear and every smile, and pulled each other through the hard and good times.
But what if...?
What if?
What if.
What if Edward did not succeed that desperate transmutation so many years ago, that plea written in blood on an empty suit of armor?
What if that suit of armor stayed empty?
What if Edward was left completely and utterly alone in his sins?
What if.
What if Hope were left trapped in the Box.
What if Edward had nothing to lose.
And everything to gain.

Continental Year 1911
Only three people in the world would call Roy Mustang past midnight. One would only call in an emergency. The second would call whenever he felt like getting Roy's nerves frazzled down to their last one (or if there was a genuine emergency). The other one, he hadn't seen since he was fifteen, and she was about as likely to call him as he was her.
So when his home phone rang and woke him up and his clock said it was about half past midnight, he worried. Grabbing his house robe, he hurried into the kitchen where the extension was hung on the wall. "Hello?" he answered, unable to hide how groggy he was in his tone.
The answer on the other end was thin and strained; Roy almost wasn't certain he'd heard anyone at all. He tried again. "Hello? Is someone there?"
"Something's happened," the voice at the other end whispered, a faint crack in the sound. Roy's blood ran cold. "Tucker's- you have to come to Tucker's. Something happened."
"Edward?"
A dial tone answered him.
