Synopsis: A Plain Summer

Whitney Everlette is one of the best students in the New York University anthropology department. She has just finished her junior year and must start preparing for her thesis, which she must complete to graduate. Since most work in anthropology is done by cultural emersion, Whitney requests a grant to work out of state. Finally, her thesis is approved. For the summer, Whitney will be spending the summer within an Amish community, studying thier way of life. She isn't quite prepared for what lays ahead of her, as she has no idea how to milk a cow, plant a garden, or even cook. She isn't being entirely treated as a part of the community by her host family's daughter, either. In the midst of her study, a young man catches her attention at a church session. Connor Ronstadt has a reputation as a hard worker and a man of values so he is friendly enough with the anthropologist-to-be. While Connor moves in closer and challenges her religious beliefs, Whitney must face her father once more and her mother's terrible secret. In addition, Whitney knows that nothing can come of a relationship with Connor, but her heart seems to tell her different. To top it all off, her fifty page thesis has to be hand-written to abide by the Amish cultural standards!
