The two pods had been launched by the human shuttle crew and surreptitiously tracked by the aliens. Their commander was concerned that yet another pair of pods had been sent from the colony after the first pair. What could the humans possibly have found that would necessitate the launch of yet another pair of these pods? Should he destroy them?

After agonizing over his decision, he decided to let them pass. After all, he’d been on the planet himself, partaking of the slaughter of these weak human animals. No one had been left alive and everything, absolutely everything had been destroyed. There was nothing that this shuttle crew could have found that would jeopardize the invasion. Better to let the pods go through than to arouse suspicion by missing a possibly-scheduled pod that failed to arrive.
