Synopsis: The Balance

A priestess of the Balance finds herself embroiled in a political coup when she delivers a message to the palace at Ilkesh just hours before the Prince-Elect is assassinated. She's recruited for help by the new prince, a 15-year-old boy who needs all the advice he can get.
If only he would actually take it sometimes.
Along the way, the priestess and the young prince forge a friendship; they manage to solidify his grasp on the power in the kingdom; he becomes more aware of the qualities a good leader needs to display and actually begins to show some of them; and they manage to hold off an Imperial invasion without spilling a drop of blood.
In the end, the priestess realizes she's found her faith in humanity again, and chooses to stay on in Ilkesh as a political advisor to the young prince.

I finished the first half of the book last year during NaNo, and am hoping to make it all the way to the end this November!
