Excerpt: The Legend of Seven Bridges
The young man was about to move on his way, but he paused, still staring in at Rowan. "Do I know you?" He asked.
Rowan blinked again and laughed incredulously. "Oh, I don't think so."
"No, seriously dude, I think I know you." The boy persisted.
Rowan rolled his eyes again and crossed his arms across his chest. "First of all, don't call me dude," he said acidically. "Second of all, I don't remember giving you permission to speak to me. But most importantly, here, there is no way on God's green Earth that I would associate with you, or any of your compadre's in cabins one through three."
The young man just burst into laughter. "Those guys are as far from my friends as I could ever imagine," he stated with a grin... Rowan could tell in his tone that the man was telling the truth. "They're just in the Fraternity that I'm trying to get into... you now, help pay for school?"
Rowan sighed deeply and nodded... he was going out of his way to be nasty to this guy and he didn't have a single reason to be. "You think the whole idea of a Fraternity would be to at least LIKE the guys you were with? Seems kind of pointless otherwise."
The young man took this as an invitation to enter Rowan's cabin and sit across from him. Rowan tensed up, it wasn't an invitation... but he didn't say anything. Something about him made the uneasy feelings go away in Rowan's insides."You wouldn't think so if you see the scholarship that's attached to them," said he young man as he sat back. "Enough to pay for school and then some... If I can just kiss the right asses to get in."
"You're a big man for admitting that," Rowan said honestly, letting one of his legs go to just hug one to his chest. "That you have to do some ass kissing to get ahead."
"Hey, the less my mom has to pay to put me through school, the better," the young blond man retorted quickly, those stormy blue eyes once again filling with anger.
"I'm sorry," Rowan returned. "I didn't mean to offend you."
The young man just let out a sigh and shook his head. "No worries," he said after a moment of looking down at his feet. "I shouldn't even be unloading this on you anyway."
Rowan lofted a brow as the man across from him lifted those piercing blue eyes to meet his. "It's just... you remind me so much of an old friend."
