Brief Author Bio: I made my writing debut in elementary school as a co-author of a puppet show that parodied X-Men, and I've been writing sporadically ever since. I'm also the token "smart" friend -- which says more about my grade point averages than my actual intelligence -- and a hardcore nerd, so I geek out about way more than any person should have time for. Synopsis: Torn Loyalties
College is difficult to handle on its own, and Summer has her fair share of difficulties that her peers could relate to: homework she's fallen behind on, new love, a crazy family.
But Summer isn't just a student; she's a wolf shifter in line to take over running her pack. As if this wasn't enough, her already wacky life takes a turn for the psycho when a disease starts to run through her town and threatens both wolves and humans alike. Only Summer can save the world...during finals, of course.
Excerpt: Torn Loyalties
Allen came back to the table and held out Summer's latte. “Shot down again.”
“By which one?”
He pointed to a black-haired woman at the pump. Her back was turned, but she looked to be shorter than Summer and curvy.
“Nice,” Summer said. “Not your usual type, is she?”
He scoffed. “My type is hot. Did you see her face?”
“No.”
Allen elbowed her and gestured toward the front. “Go ask for a straw or something. Maybe your gaydar'll tell you something.”
Summer rolled her eyes. “You want me to get involved in something now?”
“Why not?”
“Finals, for one.”
“In a month.”
“Come on,” she said, tapping her fingers on the lid of her coffee. “I'm so behind right now, it's not even funny.”
“A little...distraction could do you some good. Ease your stress. Unless...”
“Unless...”
Allen grinned. “You're scared?”
“Fine.” Summer stood up. “I need a straw.”
He patted her on the back. “That's a girl.”
“I'm not a girl.”
“'Course not.”
