Dog Story
an excerpt
Once a day they yell at me, the people do, from the back of their barn. The people live in a different kind of barn, but I’ve never seen the inside. Good smells come out of there. I hear some lady, or the kid, yell, “CHESTERRRRRRR!” and then I go up to the porch and by golly there is something in a bowl there that they let me eat. I don’t know what “Chester” is. It must be what is in the bowl. It’s pretty good, not bad. Sometimes they put some water on the chester, and in the winter they might put something kind of like meat water on the chester. But most of the time that chester stuff is dry and greasy. It’s okay. Mouses are better. If they had mouse-flavored chester that would be great. OR, WOW! What a great idea! They ought to have some of that pig mud and cow pat water stuff on it! Mouse-flavored with cow pie water stuff! That would be SO YUMMY!
