Synopsis: Subject to Change

Calais was an ordinary boy in a matriarchal world. His only hope was that he didn't end up in the Nodes with the other men of his family. But the Nodes had called him since before he was born, shaping him into the creature it needed to free itself from the Matriarchs.

On the eve of his 16th birthday, Calais suddenly found himself the guardian of a Firewyrm, and began undergoing odd transformations. From human to dog, from dog to butterfly, Calais just couldn't hang on to a shape.

As he changes and becomes more of the creature he is supposed to be, Calais learns the terrifying and tragic history of the Nodes and what he must do to save it. Standing against him is a long succession of Matriarchs and their champions.
