Brief Author Bio:

I'm twenty-two and once won a writing competition based on Phantom of the Opera, so I know I'm pretty good. I've been writing for as long as I have been able to hold a pen and my entire family have written at some point or other. At eighteen, I authored my first NaNovel; Streetcop, a story about a corrupt cop and a teenage prostitute. Not your standard fare from a teenager, but then I have never been normal.

In the years following, both The Ugliest Princess and The Crystalweb Chronicles fell through, but last year, Hyde In Paris was a verified winner! Hurrah!

Hyde In Paris is a Gothic thriller with a touch of romance that follows Robert Louis Stevenson's classic psychological tale. This year, I'm tackling it's sequel, Hyde In Russia: The Jekyll Revolution. I'm proud to bring it to my fellow Wrimos and ask that if you want to buddy me, chat to me first! I don't bite.... often! XD

Synopsis: Hyde In Russia: The Jekyll Revolution

After the horrific and terrifying events in Paris and the death of the political assassin Armand Desmarais, Doctor Henry Jekyll flees France and the advancing surete with his manservant Althabert and nurse Emilie to Russia, still seeking the answers to his mind-bending duplicity.

But Russia is passing through a time of great upheaval and soon Jekyll, Hyde, Althabert and Emilie find themselves caught up in the revolution that will claim more lives and place more at stake for the risky prize of knowledge to unravel the secret that is Edward Hyde.

Henry, there's no use killing them here.

From somewhere in the dark recesses of his tortured brain, Jekyll felt his alter ego stir in his sleep and interject on the situation at hand. Nothing unusual. Hyde had been reluctant to venture out on his own for some time now, preferring to sleep quietly as Henry was forced to run from country to country, lying to save their lives. He was tempted to say the monster was a coward and childish, but Emilie pointed out that it probably was the case – Hyde was suffering for the first time in his life.

You're awake? Jekyll thought. The subtle shifting, like being on that fine edge of a dream and awake, blurred his vision slightly.

I've been awake. There's nothing to see. Bloody awful weather.

Thanks for your contribution. Funnily enough, I had noticed that.

Don't be sarcastic, Henry. It doesn't suit you.

Well it's not like you've ever been very obliging before. It's your fault I'm on the run... again!

He murdered Celeste.

Yes, I noticed that.

Henry... how would you feel if I murdered Emilie?

The question was frightening. He'd already come face-to-face with Madame Chevalier-Aucoin once before in a murderous rage and had only spared her life because he needed to escape. Emilie had been forced to watch the monster melt away to reveal the humiliated doctor inside, almost dead with exhaustion. Jekyll had resolved, after she had hidden him in her house and prepared to leave her home and country with him, that he would lay his life down for the courageous nurse.

You know the deal. I was to leave your lover alone and Emilie would be unharmed.

Celeste was murdered.

That was not my fault, what could I have done? Armand wouldn't have recognised me.

He would have seen me in you.

He would have killed me, too.

That bastard needed me. He wouldn't have dispatched you.

Edward, I can't imagine you telling him our secret.

A sigh, inaudible or possibly a breath of wind. Arguing is getting us nowhere. Staying out here will kill you, too.

Henry looked along the empty, snow-covered road. They'd been struggling through the blizzard for hours now. I don't know where I am or where we're going.

Then go on. It's the only way to go.

Impressed with the philosophical nature of this statement, Jekyll heaved himself to his feet and lifted the woman beside him into his arms. Emilie wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered into his ear to eliminate the roar of the wind. “Edward?”

Henry nodded. “He wants to find somewhere to rest. Says it's not worth killing all of us here.”

“Sounds like a good idea.”

“But I don't know where we're going.”

“Henry, have we ever known where we're going? We just run. We've been running for a long, long time.” A gentle kiss found itself to the doctor's frost-bitten cheek. “Just run a little further. We'll find somewhere to stop soon.”
