Brief Author Bio:

This little kitten is new to the world of NaNoWriMo for 2009, although she has been tentatively sticking her paws in the waters of novel writing for many years. Alas, she understands that this is not the best time to attempt such a vast literary feat (four A levels, revising for January exams and university applications must unfortunately take priority) but frankly, she was simply too excited not to take a running dive in to the NaNo ocean, whiskers first. Now she's just hoping that the water won't be too cold.

When she isn't writing, she enjoys reading anything she can get her greedy claws on, listening to obscure music that you've probably never heard of and playing Fable 2 for hours on end. She is outspoken, opinionated and ridiculously stubborn, but also emotionally independent and at times rather reclusive. Her greatest pleasures and inspirations come from early autumn weather in England, the Victorians, steampunk, the alternative and unusual, satire, typewriters and pocket watches, dressing up, tea parties and chasing white rabbits down mysterious holes.

Synopsis:

A hybrid genre, my novel will contain elements of historical fiction, fantasy, action/adventure and romance.

Opening in Victorian England in the late 1800's, the story follows Emmeline Freer, the passionate 17 year old daughter of the British Prime Minister. Brought up in a wealthy woman's world, she knows little of her father's work, despite her demanding interest, until the day she is kidnapped by an underground association. Within this organisation are all the 'wrong' sorts of people - freaks and misfits, unethical scientists, thieves, assassins, wayward inventors, senile explorers, the list goes on - who all have the same vendetta against Emmeline's father. As a captive, she begins to learn the truth, not only about the world beyond her golden front door but about her father and his work. The organisation that are holding her hostage is the same one that her father has been hunting down for decades, but whose side is she really on? As her feelings for the mysterious, articulate Leonard develop, her decision becomes even more difficult. Meanwhile, her father has his own choice to make; will he sacrifice his only child for the safety of his country?
