Synopsis: Laffer's Line
Lenny Laffer is bored with his job, and has reached a point of desperation; he's willing to do just about anything to find a new career path. The only problem? If he quits, his boss will probably have to kill him.
Lenny's quest for exciting employment takes him from pirate to plumber, and from lion-tamer to librarian. All the while, he's chasing his dream; a chance to become a State Economist.
Excerpt: Laffer's Line
"Maybe quitting isn't the best idea after all," he thought; "if I can't even write a resignation letter."
In truth, the notion did seem a bit absurd. It would be one thing if Lenny had an entry-level job as a desk clerk. It's a different matter entirely when you're dealing with pirates. But Lenny didn't want to burn any bridges unnecessarily, and would rather go about it properly than not. He flipped the stylus again and went back to scrawling on his pad.
