Brief Author Bio: Being a librarian, working in a library, developing a collection and customizing information services is, to me, as natural as walking. But writing, making up stories and characters, twisting them in the winds of words, and watching them grow and change, is as natural as breathing. |

Synopsis:
5 strangers, Sam, Jason, Michelle, Diago and Ta Lu, are trapped by a 3 day storm in a cabin in the woods of colorado. Michelle broke her arm in trying to reach the cabin. None of them know who owns the cabin or where the former occupant is. It appears that he/she is a writer. There is a typerwriter and a lot of pages scattered around the cabin. At first there is power and heat, radio and television. There is no Cell phone reception.
However, as the storm continues, Power is lost. The strangers tell stories of themselves. They talk about nothing. Then heat is lost. They, having no experience, struggle to build a wood fire in a fireplace in the center of the cabin. The the fire keeps the strangers from freezing, but only if they huddle to gether around it. They slowly finish off what little food they brought with them, and what little food they can find.
Then they find the trapdoor and the body of the previous occupant lies in a basement cabniet with preserved food. The party argue over what they should do with the body. Jason, a superstitious man becomes convinced that the cabin is now haunted, that the storm and the previous occupant will kill all of them there and they should leave. He leaves, alone, on the morning of the third day, thinking he can reach his car and somehow get back to the main highway. He quickly becomes disoriented in the wind and white and falls down a steep embankment. Hurt and unable to walk, the snow covers him and he slowly falls asleep and dies.
The four remaining strangers carry the body out of the basement, and bury her in the snow. The storm ends that night.
