“Checking the mail,” he said, without hesitation. “I used to subscribe to magazines and order those stupid grab bags off the internet, just so I had cool stuff in my mailbox whenever I checked it. And there was this girl, we sent each other letters sometimes. When I went away for college I’d get packages and stuff from family. I liked the ritual of checking the box.”
