Synopsis: Seek Her as Silver
A young boy with a turbulent childhood grows up into worldly man who searches fruitlessly for peace and happiness until he discovers the forgiveness found in Jesus Christ. As he makes his new life, falls in love, marries, and looses his wife, he has no idea that half a world away, a there is another, a girl, who is being prepared especially for him...
A young girl grows up in happy innocence on the mission field. By the Providences of God she escapes the pitfalls of adolescence and immerges into young adult hood as a passionate Christian who has decided that if she's gotten this far without dating and kissing, then she wants to stay that way--until, that is, she finds the man God has chosen for her. Of course, she doesn't know exactly what he'll be like, but she's sure, with prayer and faith, the Lord will reveal him to her.
“Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will discern the fear of the Lord,
And discover the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.”
Proverbs 2:1-4
Excerpt: Seek Her as Silver
Into the midst of these musings fell a knock on the door. Anna started up, cats scattering, and went to open it. There on the doorstep stood Julia, looking as bright and pretty and vivid as she always did. “Julia!”
“Hello, friend!” she replied, breezing into the apartment. “Reading on the floor again, Anna? You do have a couch, you know.”
“I like the floor.”
“And I like the couch!” she plopped herself down on it, and eyed the other merrily. “You’ve been avoiding me, Anna! You’ve hardly said a word to me for weeks! That can only mean one thing—you’re hiding something!”
A reluctant smile answered her. “Like what?”
“A man!” she exclaimed, with great emphasis and delight. “You’re hiding a man from your all-knowing friend Julia’s eyes, because you don’t want me to say I told you so! Well, then, I won’t—because I already did!”
“Julia—!” Anna uttered a laughing protest. “It’s not like that!”
“Like what?”
“Like—like what you’re thinking, that’s what! We are not dating—not your kind of dating anyway! We’re just—talking.”
“Talking?” She raised her eyebrows. “What kind of talking are you doing, that you felt the need to hide it from me?”
“The kind of talking that might lead to something else,” she acknowledged, sitting back down again in the middle of the floor, and pulling a cat into her lap. “Only it’s all very hard to explain.”
