Synopsis:

This is a "prequel" to Lord Dunsany's classic "The King of Elfland's Daughter." The story starts 45 years before the start of Dunsany's novel. It concerns the coming of the Church to the Vale of Erl, the birth of Lirazel (the King of Elfland's daughter), and the creation of the boundary of twilight.
So far (13,770 words into it) I've written scenes of falling in love with a strange minstrel, a priest rendered speechless by a flying talking goat, and a witch snapping her fingers in the castle kitchen. There's been some romantic rivalry, but the fair Ifrabel has chosen with her heart. I just wrote the wedding scene. One more chapter and that'll be the end of the first Act. The second Act is going to be rather more grim, however.
November 14th: just written the death scene, and I hope it's going to be moving for the reader.
Nov. 23 update. Almost finished the story and I'm not even up to 40,000 words. But some of the chapters are like a stage play: enter the King and Lirazel; dialogue. So there's much to add to make the story rich.
