....
That was the plan, anyway. Too bad for them, the Night Watch make life dangerous for all Vampires, and there are fewer and fewer places to hide. Every morning they go to sleep, not knowing if they'll live through the day. On top of that, the mysterious lady Sofia has roped them into her sinister plans. With danger and death around every corner, will love triumph? Is it even possible?
Probably not.
Excerpt: The Wrong Side
The man sneered at her, and kicked her in the ribs. She moaned. He turned her over so that she was facing up, looking at him.
“Well, aren’t you a cutie?” He put his foot down on her forehead. “I wonder how many innocent people you’ve tricked with that face… Not many child Vampires, now are there? Guess that makes you special.” He grinned as she whimpered a bit. “A bragging right, no?”
Without warning, he lifted his foot and brought it down on her face as hard as he could. She heard a sickening crack as she felt her nose break.
“Not so cute now, hmmm?” He lifted his foot and looked down at her. Her vision was blurred with tears, but she could tell he was grinning. He pulled something out of his belt. “See this? It’s a stake. Know what this is for?”
She whimpered, and tried to move, but it was useless.
“Well, I guess you do.” He crouched down and put in on her chest, over her heart. “You know what happens if I hammer this into your heart, little girl?” He pressed the silver tip against her chest, and it tore through her clothing, hurting her as it broke through her skin by a fraction of an inch. “You die. It will be painful, oh, that is for certain. Every single one of your kind I’ve killed screamed themselves hoarse. The screams of the damned, getting their rightful punishment.” He snickered, and put the stake back into his belt. “But that comes later. First, we get to have a little… Fun.” He pulled out a small, silver knife, and pressed the flat edge against her cheek. She winced, and pulled away. He laughed. “If you think that hurt, just wait until I actually get started with you.”
