Brief Author Bio: Okay uh...for a long time I had this notion that I was going to be a Great Novelist, and possibly have several of my works made into hit movies that would also win Oscars. This was back when I was young and well...let's just use the word 'uninformed' and move on. As time went on my hopes dreams and aspirations became somewhat more realistic, and I even managed to get a 40k word novella published back in 2001-2002 (serialized). For a while I got sucked into a long, deeply satisfying but-as of yet-unproductive project that's left me with a 120k prologue to a novel that I'm really not sure what to do with. Then over the last two years I went through a really sketchy period of my life that sort of shut down my writing altogether. Not trying to be a drama queen or anything, but for a while I was seriously worried that I wouldn't be able to get back on the horse again. Then about a month ago, I got an idea while reading the comments section on a blog, and managed to grind out a nifty little story fragment that rekindled my confidence. As of now, the name of the game is 'Maintain Momentum.' I heard about this event in passing over the summer, then got reminded of it just a few days ago by my girlfriend (Hi Liz!). I have no plan, no outline, not even a vague character sketch or piece of dialogue. All I'm really expecting from NaNoWriMo are a bunch of headaches and pain. The sort of thing that reminds you you're alive. |
