Synopsis: Sally and the Wasteland/Sally's Farm
A world deverstated by natural disaster, a dog on a journey home. With a couple of friends.
Excerpt: Sally and the Wasteland/Sally's Farm
"woof" (joke, might put up excerpts later)
Another day passed and still no-one came. The only source of water I could find was from the toilet (disgusting perhaps, but I could not turn on a tap) but food was more difficult. I eventually managed to jump up at the door of the utility room where my food was kept and with great effort grab the handle with my paw, pulling it down and swinging the door open. Once inside it was easy to knock the bag of dry food over, spilling it onto the floor where I could eat it. I had to resist the urge to gorge myself, as I did not know how long it would be before someone came for me. A few more days passed and still no-one came. I began to panic greatly, pacing up and down and barking for hours on end. Surely someone had to hear me? But it seemed no-one did or maybe no-one cared and I began to feel deeply depressed. I lay in my bed and whimpered to myself.
Now as a dog, I was used to routine, but on the sixth or seventh day I began thinking for myself in a way I had never done before. I suddenly decided that no-one was ever coming. I didn’t know if they were all dead or had all run away or just didn’t care about me, but if I waited here I would slowly die when my food ran out. I had to make it outside and find out what had happened. So this time I employed my door opening technique to the front door and though it was much harder, I eventually opened it. When I walked outside I was not quite prepared for the sight, though I had glimpsed it though the window. The air smelled foul, a burning odour filled my nose and I could see the destruction in greater detail. The grass had been burnt badly and there was wood and metal everywhere. Then I spotted something in the distance. I ran towards it and when I got there I could see Maggie lying under a huge metal fence. I licked her face but from the smell, I knew she was dead. I whimpered again and lay by her for a few minutes, but I knew it would be getting dark soon and I needed to find someone soon. The sky was already grey, something had caused it to cloud even in daylight. I hunted more and more and found the body of another worker, but where was my master Harry? I searched but found nothing, and so I made my way to the office and finding the door open I crept inside. There seemed to be not much destruction in here, so I excitedly ran about hoping to find someone but no luck. So I sat down again and then noticed the radio was on and as I listened to the words I learnt something about what had happened.
