Favorite novels: Dresden Files (Jim Butcher), Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (Susanna Clark), Malus Darkblade novels (Dan Abnett and Mike Lee), Tairen Soul series (CL WIlson).

Favorite writers: Jim Butcher, Lilith Saintcrow, Naomi Novik, Hideyuki Kikuchi, Mike Lee, Ben Counter, CL Wilson.

Favorite music: Depends on what I'm writing. If I'm writing heavy ploy points or complicated dialogue, then I need new agey stuff without words so I can concentrate. Otherwise, I stick to my usual regimen of Icon of Coil, Alison Krauss, VNV Nation, and Sisters of Mercy.

Non-noveling interests: Reading!!! And, I guess, other stuff...RPGs, Warhammer, World of Warcraft, painting, clubbing, singing, hiking, and engaging in philosophical debate over mojitos.

Brief Author Bio:

I'm a rain-loving, free-spirited, passionate-about-life woman who views voracious consumption of books as even more important than food or water (and just a hair below breathing). I work for an amazing game company that indulges (and even encourages) my need to tell stories, and I live with an amazing man and a codependent cat who do the same!

Synopsis: The Devil and The Tower

Erzsabet Aldobrandini becomes fascinated by the history of the Sforza Tarot, a deck from fifteenth century Italy that is missing four cards. As she delves deeper into the mystery, she discovers that there is a very good reason those cards have been lost, and that finding them may not be in anyone's best interests...

From Chapter Seventeen: Temperance:

“Speaking of which... shouldn’t Mr. Woon have returned by now?” Erszabet asked, resolutely taking her mind off her problems back home.
Gregóire was taken aback. “Indeed. Perhaps I should go see what is taking him so long.”
“Let me come with you, I’ve seen too many horror movies to think that we should split up.” Erszabet grabbed her messenger bag and joined Gregóire in walking toward the bathroom. He was about to go in the door to the men’s room when Erszabet grabbed his shirt and pulled him back. “No! Don’t!” she cried.
“What is it, cherie?” he asked, confused.
“It’s a... what do you call it. An insidiare,” she replied.
Gregóire looked at her intently. “How can you tell? I see nothing amiss.”
“I’m a graphic artist. When you made that portal walkway thing to the restaurant, it made the wall around it, um, off? I can’t really explain it. It’s like the pixels were not quite interleaved correctly. Or maybe some of them were the wrong color? Anyway, it was really annoying; if I’d been at work I would have fixed that shit really fast. The bathroom wall looks the same around the men’s room.” Erszabet kept hold of Gregóire’s shirt; not trusting him to not walk in until he believed her.
He looked at her measuringly. “Really? That is most fascinating. I never would have thought an artist would catch the imposition of Elsewhere on the mundane world. It makes sense, though. Let me summon Isa, she will be able to confirm your impression.” He made a quick motion with his hand, and muttered under his breath, and Isa coalesced from the ether in front of him and Erszabet.
The first thing Isa said when she was fully materialized was “It’s a good thing you are here, Miss Aldobrandini. I do appreciate you keeping my wayward captain from the clutches of the enemy.”
“So it is an insidiare, then,” asked Gregóire.
“It is indeed,” responded Isa drily. “Victor’s work again, unless I miss my guess. And unless my guesses are extremely poor today, he has caught the prey he was seeking the first time. The game, as they say, is now afoot.”
