When they pulled Milo Watson out of a bombed out building during the Blitz, he was practically comatose. His wife's body was never found. But Milo and Mae were not victims of a German bomb. They were on a special mission to capture Professor Morpheus.

Milo refused to talk about what happened, but years later he tells the story of his adventures to his nephew, a six year old boy with learning difficulties who constructs his own world around his uncle's stories.

Now grown up, Jack Watson discovers that the stories were true and that Professor Morpheus has returned and he wants to finish what he started by coming after Milo and Jack.

Jack finds himself revisiting old nightmares as he crosses over into a world he created thirty years earlier. Astride a clockwork motorcycle and armed with his uncle's old service revolver Jack searches for his Nemesis but finds much more.
