Synopsis: Sons of Eld
a fantasy set in a psuedo-victorian era with wizards, politics and gangsters.
Excerpt: Sons of Eld
The doorway itself was equally white and at first I thought it might have been walled up. However, as I came within a step or two of the portal, I realized what I had assumed was solid was in fact fog. Cloudy whiteness puffed and swayed within the Gate, in a way I found more soothing than ominous. I had dealt with fire so hot I should have died in an instant; what further fears could I have after surviving that torture? Without thinking upon it any further, I took another deep and precautionary breath and flung myself into the mist.
The change in my surroundings was instantaneous and felt much as had the nauseating jump when I had first passed beneath the leather curtain. I had shut my eyes the instant before I my face had entered the fog; an instinctive response to leaping into the unknown.
