an excerpt
As his mind became more attuned to the concepts of political economy, free markets, and all the other related terminology, it became second nature to apply these theories to his everyday life, and most specifically the printing press. He wondered whether it could not be run much more efficiently were the various tasks, such as transport, paper pulping, paper making, ink making, press maintenance, printing, and binding, to be divided among as many people, each specializing on their own respective facet of operations. He quite forgot that he actually liked doing all these various things, that he would no doubt become quite bored if, for instance, his only task would be to oversee the actual printing of the pages, without ever being involved in such things as book binding, the most skillful job along with the paper making, or the opportunity for interacting with other people that ferrying the books and the ingredients that made them up around provided. And all this quite ignoring the fact that it only took him and a few people drafted in now and then when there was a job that required immediate attention to run the whole operation.
