Brief Author Bio: I'm a 23 year old preschool teacher who teaches the 3-4 class at a pre-primary somewhere in Johannesburg, South Africa. I'm studying Basic Child Care (a forerunner to the Preschool Education course) part-time at the Professional Child Care College in Melville, South Africa. So basically my life is run by children. I have considered actually doing a NaNovel about children, or for small children... but no. I'm sticking with my usual fantasy. I actually have two plots warring it out in my head at the moment and I'm not sure which one to go for. XD When I'm not working with children or spending my Saturdays learning about them, I like to read, write fanfiction and watch Doctor Who. I do a lot of Doctor Who watching. XD I have done NaNoWriMo every year since 2005, though only ever reached 50k in 2006. I'm hoping that, even with my hectic life, I can do it this year. I've even started taking Omega 3 supplements in preparation. XD Good luck, fellow Wrimos! You'll need it!!! |

Synopsis: Mirror Image
We've all heard the theories of parallel worlds. Supposedly there are thousands of them, layered all around each other like onions. But they're just theories, of course. Nothing's been proven yet.
Right?
Sean is an ordinary boy. Perhaps a bit too bookish, too fond of his computer and not fond enough of sports. But then, one day, he discovers a gateway to another world, a parallel dimension.
A world where there is no technology. None.
Instead, people use magic, innate and otherwise, for all everyday pastimes. Entertainment, communication, transportation, all run by magic. Sean discovers people he knows, except that they're not the people he remembers. Even his family is different. His mother and father are as he remembers... but he does not exist in this world. Instead, his parents have another child, Julian, more or less the same age as Sean, but different in many ways and clearly not his double.
Once over their innitial mistrust and odd jealousy, the boys become firm friends and begin to explore each others' worlds, and soon one begins to learn magic, while the other discovers the wonders of technology.
However, there are problems on both worlds. War. Famine. Disease. Death. Over the decades it has been getting progressively worse. But there is something behind it, something much bigger than the boys could ever have imagined. And they are part of a select few who can stop it.
If they fail, every universe will perish.
