And we're back! The ultimate challenge! Writing a total of 10,000 words or more in just five hours.

Difficult? Sure. Impossible? No way!

Here's how it works:

1. Come here and post your expected start and finish time.
2. Write!
3. Come back and post your total (even if you didn't finish or didn't hit your target)
4. Get added to the Wall of Awesomeness (TM)

Added bonus: bragging rights (I can write 10,000 words in five hours, can you?)
Added added bonus: this is a great way to increase your Nano word count quickly!

And now, without further ado, the:

Yay! I was hoping that you would repost this. I am going to see about trying this before NaNo starts and then probably doing it again during NaNo. =)

I'm going to try this again but from the start, every time I would start I would get distracted but, I have lots of free time now. May try it on wednesday if I can get the next part of my plot sorted.

I think I'm actually going to give this a shot tomorrow at some point.

I need to state a specific time, don't I? Hmm...
I don't know exactly what I might be doing tomorrow... Maybe 12-5?
I'll check in tomorrow with whether it's going to work and a definite time.

I think I will have to try this. I'm dreading it, which is part of the reason I almost feel like I should. My original goal is to make this the 12am-5am on November 1st but I'll have to look at my school schedule to decide if this is a reasonable idea.

Good luck all! For those doing this in the next few days, I can't wait to add you to the Wall.

I'm thrilled to see so many people interested in this. I will definitely be joining the November 1st Challengers. We should have a fantastic updated Wall of Awesomeness on the 2nd :)

Oh man, what a challenge! I'm still tossing around a couple of plots, but once I get my nano hammered down for this November, I think I just might have to have a go at this!

O.o Wow that looks ... amazing. I'm definitely going to try this the first day, it'll be nice to start out the month with 10K + words.

I am going to attempt at this on the 13th because I have no school that day due to a teacher in-service. Hopefully I will be able to get it!

I am most definitely doing this. I'm starting November 1st at midnight, but I don't think I'll be able to stay awake for five hours and write so I'll probably attempt to do this in the afternoon, from 1-6 or so. Starting the month with 10k would be a good step for my goal of 100k. In fact, I might have to do this more than once... I'm all about the longer word wars.

Hm. I started at 11 with no real idea of what I was going to write about. Then I took a half hour break to make a hamburger, so I'm going to cheat and not count that. I shall finish by 4:30, or die trying.

Right... I'm writing an RPG system which will form the basis of my novel (characters do stuff under the framework of the system) so I'm going to work on that, and see how much I can get out between now (9:20am) and 2:20pm. GO!

Gah. 1 hour in, just over 1k and flagging/getting distracted. I'll probably go back to it in a bit and I'll post how much I've done in the meantime when it gets to 2:20. Hmm... this doesn't bode well for November.

Cool! Last year I still couldn't type well enough. This year I'm much better. So I may try it. Though my mom may intercept me. MUST PREPARE!!!!!

I'm definitely going to try this either the 1st or 2nd of November, whichever day I can bribe my husband to take our 3 year old somewhere so that I can have some quiet time to concentrate.

I'm excited!

Oh, man. I'm not sure how well I'll do, since my usual "sprinting" pace is about 1.5k an hour, but I'm in for the first/second of November.

I quit around 3:00am because, well, it was 3am and I thought sleep was more enticing. I managed about 3,000 words on a subject I was entirely unsure of when I first started writing it. So that's something, I guess. I mean, it's 3,000 MORE words than I had when I opened MS word. Right?

Well I never got round to this on wednesday, but I plan to do it over the weekend. I want to try this before nano because then I know i've had practice and can improve or no where my errors are so I can be most effective for November. I think this will be a very useful thing for November and plan to attempt it 3 or 4 times, trying to beat my score each time and getting my word count up.

Wow. This sounds insane. XD I'm a very slow writer, so I imagine I'd get 5k at best, but that'd still be 5k more than when I started.

I think I might try this on 11/1. I've been worried that I won't get into the pace of Nano this year, so if I give myself a huge challenge on the 1st, maybe it'll break through that and get me going. =D

I'm going to try this on Nov 1st, probably the wee hours of the morning (the only time in my house when everyone's sleeping!). We'll see how it goes. That's 2000 words an hour, right? I may be able to do that. I can get like 500 words in 10-minute word wars, so hopefully that will help. It would be nice to get a fifth of my word count out of the way on the first day!

Five straight hours of writing? It's sounds so wonderful and scary too!
