For those who want to take this thread seriously: Go away.
This year I have a doozy, which is probably better for getting banned than last year.
I've settled on following a sex friend relationship from the time that the friends are in High school to when they meet later and showing how they down spiral as they constantly meet each other over and over again. It is sure to have sex (lots of it), violence, and pathologically destructive behavior with deep psychological themes.
Meanwhile I'm writing as my off-season novel, one that includes: homosexuality, bisexuality, anti-homophilia attitudes, homophobia (in some of the characters, though this is not my attitude--I mainly use it to make fun of the homophobia), magic, witchcraft, alternate religions, making fun of religious fanatics, references to sex and sex acts, violence, death (and death in a manner that some might find offensive...), vampires, zombies, psychologically jarring themes (dealing with children...), references to Michael Jackson (and making fun of him...), and for the literary types: contemporary references to movies and current events. (I know OMG...) I also make fun of B-movies and Kaiju movies. ^^;;
Though if people get past the Giant God Squirrel talk and the death scene in that chapter, then I think you really have the guts to read the rest of the novel.
^^;; I also make unicorns swear and Snow White into a magic masochist... (C'mon... it's sooo clear she's a magic masochist...)
And I'm playing with a short story idea... God has run out of souls, so if someone wants a baby, they have to kill someone....
That one is sure to be banned.
How about you?

Hrm...my NaNo prolly won't be banned, but the short story I work on when I'm bored would prolly be ^.^
It's around a vampire and her vampire clan (though she doesn't live with them). Near the beginning of the story a small child bites and feeds off a kitten. Later in the story the FMC does things like have random unprotected sex and gets energy as the sperm die inside of her.
Not the worst, but not PC either ^.~

I think I'm going to have a fairly 'clean' novel this year, unlike previous years, when my novels were full of S&V (that's sex and graphic violence). This year it's still Tereskadians and whistling dragons, but the setting is Earth, and it has some humor in it.... or at least I hope it has.

My novel will be banned because it is a gay romance story. There will be cursing, premarital sex, mentions of drug usage, cheating, and AIDS. Oh, and have I mentioned it's about two men? :P
I'm honestly looking forward to doing this - it's going to be a challenge seeing as I am neither Australian, 52 years old, male, or gay. Go me :D

My banned novel will most likely be Bad Company. You see, it offends the Republican Party (it's set during the last year or so of Bush), several politically powerful corporations, and prudes who don't like to see two sisters carry on a passionate love affair -- with each other. And a corporation that combines Blackwater/Xe, Halliburton/KBR, Wackenhut/CCC, and Enron starts out murdering an investigative reporter and ends up trying to overthrow the US government when the Republicans lose the '08 election.
This year's NaNo novel? Dirty Pop? It'll probably get hyped on MTV.

It sucks.
It deals pretty heavily with sexuality and how that affects a person's life, so there will be plenty of sex scenes, although that is far from my area of expertise.

My novel will be banned because it will involve:
A society of no sex (designer babies instead), God is taken out of the equation and likely will only be for the 'old timers' - religion will be more Wiccan or nature based, the President of the US is an openly gay male with a lifelong husband(marriage legal in all 50 states) and 3 children, the VP is a Wiccan woman with a sketchy past before she cleaned up and found her religion. There will be an underground world where people are sterilized unknowingly, eggs and sperm and stolen in 'medical proceedures' and babies given as gifts of God, though really made from test tubes in a lab and could very well be your neighbor's biological child. Also, it deals with the end of the world not really being the end of the world, 50 years of cult and mind control based on God's chosen people, and living alternate lives to get ahead. As well as Hell in on Earth not below it. All in all I would say that I am flipping every present day taboo and making it normal and accepted, throwing in some religion and technology based theories and expanding them.

And many guns, lots of kissing, starvation, and death.

Well, like many people here, mine would be banned for the homosexuality.
There's two main gay characters and one minor gay character, plus two main lesbian characters, one minor lesbian character, and one major bisexual character. Whoo for respresenting my community!
It'd also be banned for young motherhood: one of my characters had a son when she was 16.
Banned for drug abuse: a couple of characters were ehavy into every drug you could poke a stick at, and alcohol pours like the rivers of Egypt throughout the entire thing, cause the country Australians, and we're just awesome like that. :)
Banned for the violence: plenty of brawls and mentions of child abuse.
Banned for the language: there's so many curse words it's scary.
And also banned for one particular scene where a character argues about Christ's sacrifice: "How the hell does one preachy Jew dying save the souls of an entire population? Like, the flood I get. God was pissed off and went all bad ass and drowned all but the righteous. Yeah, that I understand, but what the fuck does one guy dying have to do with anything?! It makes no sense, NONE! His death didn't save us, most of them back them would have been, 'Oh, awesome! A crucifixion!'. They were BLOODTHIRSTY LITTLE BASTARDS! They probably wanked to this stuff! So what does a population's wank fantasy have to do with eternal salvation!"

All Americans eh?
There's a novel which features God being raped thrice over in the form of donkey that's part of the school curriculum here, few things mentioned in this thread would even be frowned upon in the Netherlands (in fiction of course, the real thing is in most cases illegal, though homosexuality and premarital sex are thankfully legal).
Your best chances are when you write a persuasive novel on the extermination of an existent (religious) group. A novel clearly and without any form of satire or irony calling upon a massacre amongst the Arabs, for example. Complete with speeches of hate and a gory cult of violence. That might get it banned, but I doubt it.
It's tough to get your book banned these days. That's a good thing!

I'm re-writing my Nanovel from a couple of years ago. In it, God dies, some of the angels are gay and all of the angels and demons vote to elect the new God. Satan is, of course, saddened by God's death because they were close friends.
And that's just part of the story. Yeah.

Ironically, I think my book would be banned because it deals with homosexuality the same way a book might deal with heterosexuality. It's there, yeah whatever. I can imagine the b'awing from people who think that all books with gay characters have to make a huge, social issue about it.
