So, I made a "mock" book trailer a little while back for my NaNo novel. It's not anything special, but I've found that the eight hours I spent making it were really worth it. I watch it whenever I need a little boost of inspiration for working on the research related to my book.

Has anyone else done this before? I've got mine posted on YouTube and it's currently public for the time being (I may put it back up as private again if there are any copyright complaints).

If you do end up making one between now and the start of NaNo (or as a way to procrastinate during NaNo, lol) I'd be interested in seeing it! Perhaps we can make this the "book trailer" post if people are interested enough.

Here's the link to mine:

Well, I tried to do this...
But ended up glamorizing it and not even summarizing much of anything, besides the fact there's Ghosts. :|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPE5Uz1gmHM But ohwell, feel free to watch my lazyness. xD

DMarie.. that was really well done! I have no clue how to create those things so I won't even try, but I watched yours to see what it was like. Great job! It really makes you want to read the book!

I'm going to have to do this once I get my outline in order. It actually seems like a great motivator! I can see myself getting frustrated and then taking a gander at my "Trailer" to remind me of why I'm doing this.

Awesome job on those as well! Well done!

I want to do some - for my past and current non-NaNos, and this NaNo, but first I need to find more actors/musicians/other types of famous people I can get clips of, and clips from movies/tv/music videos (any advice on how to get movie or TV clips with a decent quality or DVD onto PC would be helpful) and then play about on Windows Movie Maker. :D I''ll check other peoples' out, for inspiration. :P Look out for comments from JazziChick if they're on YouTube. :)

Once I've done mine, I'll post links. :)

I really want to do this. I love the music in your trailer, by the way.
I'm going to sit down and watch everyone else's too!
Then, I'm going to get on making one. =P Thanks so much.

I loved watching these! They're so much fun :)

Thanks, KellyJene, for the complement! I'm glad it makes you want to read the book--I guess it served it's purpose then!

I'm impressed with the ones that actually use clips from movies and TV shows--I couldn't do that!

BTW, if anyone decides to make one after reading this, post it back here! I'll try to keep bumping this thread up so more people will see it :) It'd be awesome to get a great number of Book Trailers to watch...and it can be a great place for people to take a break :)

I've made a few, too!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNf0-oro_Tk -- the first video I ever made and it was for my Screnzy 2007. It moves a little slow [okay, a lot slow, lol], but I still like it. I keep considering redoing it now that I know what I'm doing with videos, but I haven't had a chance yet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWSmBiz53XI -- This was for my NaNo 2007. It used to have a different song that I thought worked better, but youtube called copyright on me, so I changed the song to keep the video public. I still like it with this one, though, so yay!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly0BtWT7cBA -- My JulNo 2009 about Zombies got a trailer while I was procrastinating on it this summer, too. Not my best work, but it amuses me nonetheless. [:

I've finished my trailer!

Unfortunetly, I couldn't find any video footage so I only have pictures. However, It was fun to make and think about and when I watch it I get all inspired! So, I guess that'll help get me through. =P

I also finished watching everyone's and they all look awesome. Especailly how you used Jenny there in Dreamer of Mars. =P I still love yours, Marie, that music!

Anyways, here's mine.

Loving all of these! It's awesome to see everyone's novels in visual form.

Thanks PurpleBadger, for the complement ^_^. The song is from an anime, Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (say that three times fast!) called "Jidai-Douran no Koku." I know; it's quite a mouthful! It took me a little while to find the song I wanted and even longer to find all the images. But it was loads of fun. Maybe after NaNo I'll make another for my other WiP.

Keep submitting those trailers; I'm loving them!

These are great! Love watching them...

I'm still trying to decide on which book idea to write for NaNo...and I've been trying to decide since August. That's bad. But in an effort to help me decide, I made book trailers for my top four ideas. That's good. I've since narrowed it down to two ideas, so here are the mock trailers for those:

Journey to the Gray Lands --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4juvmiWfhw4
Voices of Penance --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7xQqhKhX4k

And just for the fun of it, here are the trailers for the other two books:

Teardrop Knight --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xpd8hWB2p10
Lonely Miracle --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oblJ6KuWV0A

(By the way...if anyone who reads this wants to give their opinion on which book I should pursue for NaNoWriMo this year, please, feel free to do so...lol)

These trailers are great, really cool music on them too.

WarriorSheep, the Journey to the Gray Lands looks really good, I hope you write that. But it's up to you really.

Although I find trailers are horribly distracting when you're trying to work on something else. Like I've got a bit stuck writing a fanfiction (which was partly born because I was fussing around with a plot for my NaNo when that idea struck me) so I decided what the heck I'll do a trailer to help me think. Well I've now sorted out where my fic is going, but haven't finished the trailer and it's dead distracting.

The story here is... I'll do one in December, just so that I'm not tempted to procrastinate if I don't finish it in time.

Wow...talk about serious great motivation. I'm going to have to try this. xD

Unfortunately, I'll be stuck with pictures as I don't know how to edit film. *twitches* I mean...I know a bit if it's actually from my camera, but..it's different off a dvd, isn't it?

Seriously splendid idea.

*applauds*

I'm not a huge film buff, I tend to have a very short attention span and films don't hold it. My problem is finding films that I know will have some imagery I need for my trailer... Otherwise I'd love to have used video. =[

But pictures is fun too, it's only a mock trailer!

I really like Journey to the Gray Lands the best as well. Well, It seems the most interesting to me personally at least. xP

Thanks for the music, too, guys! I'm addicted.

Yeah, I wouldn't even know where to begin if I used film from movies. Images are easier. ^_^

I use Sony Vegas Pro 8.0.

You can't really tell it with pictures alone, but you can do SO MUCH on it, It's not even funny.

Well, it's not funny... It's Pro. I suppose. XD

No problem. ^^

It's cheesy and not very well done - just the result of many Google image searches and too much free time. I'll probably make another one closer to or during November.

Beaverleigh, your trailer was great! I have a really hard time actually using film. Very powerful!

MuscialMe, I loved yours too! The music was amazing! And my trailer was only images too. Many official trailers for published books are just images and I think they can be just as powerful.
