Born in 1963 to Paul ond Ruth Olson on the shores of Lake Michagan. Moved around the country every few years as his father changed duty stations in the US. Navy. Graduated from High School in 1981 and attended college a tthe University of Nebraska at Omaha for many years without graduating while he studied Computer Science and worked as a programmer at the same time. He also discovered Role Playing Games during this time and became an accomplished Game Master among his circle of friends.

Married Nichola, whom he had met in school, in the spring of 1992 and in the spring of 1995 and 1999 had two children, Valerie and Alex. Over the years he introduced his kids to his favorite games and they introduced him to SteamPunk, a genre he fell in love with.

He has over the years been writing novels during the NaNoWriMo competition, most of which he would not share with even his worst enemies. He has risen to a leadership role in his NaNoWriMo group, the OWLs, and helps with instruction and technical support as well as setting up write-ins and such though-out the year.
