Synopsis: Wow, Impressive!
A paranormal themed message board is presented with a website, with only a text box, a Submit button, and the words "Leave your phone number. It will call." Curious parties give it a try, and soon caller IDs are lighting up with a number one higher than their own, and whoever answers is presented with a choice from a gruff voiced man- "Question or fortune?" The viral nature of the internet spreads the website to thousands around the world. No matter the amount of numbers the website receives, there is always a prompt call. It's good fun, the internet equivalent of a magic 8 ball.
But a small group of users on the message board where it first surfaced remain cautious about it, and when a small number of people receive phone calls from a number one lower than their own, with a female voice warning them to not trust "David" and to discourage others from giving him their phone numbers.
Following clues from the female caller and her "sisters," these message board denizens begin to wonder if it's all just an elaborate internet hoax, or something much more serious, and threatening to the real world.
Excerpt: Wow, Impressive!
I grab my cell phone and hold it tightly in my hand. Will Creepy Phone Guy call, as I was expecting? It would be just my luck that he'd not call tonight, that something would go wrong and it would be someone else instead. The ONE night I decide to put my number in.
The phone buzzes in my hand and the ring tone starts. I flip it open as fast as possible. "Hello?"
"Listen to me," the female voice on the other end says. "STOP putting yoru number in. And tell all your friends to stop too. This is dange-- don't you understand that this is dangerous?"
"Dangerous? What is? How?" I quickly ask. I need answers.
There's a sigh on the other end, but no answer.
"Hello?"
"David is dangerous. What he's doing could destroy us all. And you're all playing along because you think it's some game," she snaps. "Well, its NOT a game, and you won't think it's very fun when you're all dead."
