Synopsis: Heaven's Lapse

Ever since she was a young child, Cecily had dreams of sailing around the world solo. A born and bred sailor from Los Angeles, she embarks on her journey under stressful circumstances. Her mother and father are on the verge of divorce, the pressure of school has taken a toll on her shoulders, and her relationship with her favorite uncle is plunging into the depths of immorality. Escapism becomes her favorite option.

On a reckless and selfish whim, Cecily decides to leave port during her summer break. Her escape has caused more distress between her parents, and only one person knows of her plans to sail around the globe: her uncle, a daring sailor and Cecily's lover.

Cecily enjoys a quiet time at sea, but not for long. A violent storm will threaten her life and the life of the man she loves. Only the devil will be there to save her. But will she sacrifice her uncle's life and return to Earth as a mortal human being? Or will she choose immortality and forever stay in the realm that exists between heaven and earth?

Excerpt: Heaven's Lapse

Screw Wuthering Heights and Emily Bronte, the real world is enjoyable enough. Bright sunshine, warm weather, decent surf. Venice Beach is where the real action happens, not in some Gothic Victorian novel that reeks of pure, unadulterated angst. There’s a time and place for that, and a SoCal beach definitely isn’t the right place at all.

So I put my copy of Wuthering Heights on my stomach, raise myself up a bit by my elbows, and start watching the first thing that catches my eye: a handsome blond surfer riding the waves skillfully, his fingers threading through the water, his surfboard zipping side to side.
