Chapter 1

It was seven bells of the forenoon watch as the bow of the Angela’s Pride crashed through the heavy waves of the dark gray sea. First Mate Nathaniel Basset monitored the ships progress and the status of the sails billowing in the wind.

They were several weeks out of London on the southward leg of their trip heavily laden with cargo. Along with the manufactured goods they were carrying the captain also had a packet of papers from the board of trustees of the shipping company. In this packet of papers were reports from the annual stock owners meeting, payroll for the crew as well as the employees that worked for the company in Nevis. Nathaniel had heard that there was also a sealed letter from the partners to his father who was the company representative in Nevis and supervised the warehouses and business at that end.
