Synopsis:

8000 words in, a plot is begining to show itself, much like the little shoots of green in the snow show winter that spring exists and will be here soon. Or some bullshit like that.

Excerpt:

I really wanted the soup because I wasn't feeling well. It was my typical winter "thing" where my period kicked in and brought down my iron levels which brought down my immune system which I really need to be in tip top shape because everyone around me at work was starting to feel like the horror stories you read about in the paper or saw on the tv news. I know there is no proof that eating a bowl of chicken noodle soup, no matter how "complex" it is to make, what with all the can opening, and the pan and bowl washing and the heating and stirring and ladling into the bowl, is going to prevent or cure anything. And do not forget that you have to have crackers handy, because it's very important to eat crackers with your soup. Bonus points if they are shaped like little fish so that you can pretend you are sucking down a koi pond for lunch.
