Synopsis: Doon

((In my head, it's a lot less cliché than it sounds, so please be aware of that, aha....))

In the city of Doon, Malcolm Walcott is a young private investigator. Whereas in most countries, P.I.s get more work than they can handle, the city of Doon doesn’t need anyone investigating death. Why? It’s the city in between the states of ‘life’ and ‘death’, where people with unfinished business or grudges to be had find themselves stuck, sometimes for centuries, until they can find a way to let go of life. Where you can have near-life experiences, and people having near-death experiences are referred to as ‘Quakes’, Doon is not a normal city.

Malcolm Walcott was a simple English graduate from London, and when his fiancé was killed in a car crash, where he was driving, he found it impossible to forgive himself. Distraught and unable to cope on his own, he kills himself - only to find a new sense of loneliness in a new city where people have had decades to form friendships. Not only that - his fiancé is nowhere to be seen. Pulling himself together, he began work as a Private Investigator, his job in Life, working to help people uncover the reason they were stuck in Doon.

Caroline Baxter was a student, one year away from graduating with her Ph.D., when her life comes to an end after struggling with cancer for years. Shocked to find herself in Doon, she turns to the cheapest P.I. available; Malcolm Walcott. As she tries to work out what is keeping her from Death, she feels her whole former Life unravelling, things coming to light she never knew would, while Malcolm has his own set of demons to come to terms with…
