Synopsis:

In a post-apocalyptic world on the brink of a second destruction, Catherine Wolfe is just trying to get through life under the radar of everyone. She can control light, and does not die easily. Her father is a powerful but evil man, and in all truth, she is afraid of him. But when a man named Thomas Baritone learns of her and her powers, he gets inadvertently pulled in to the battle between Cath and her father. But there's something that this normal man has that Cath just might need if she wants to survive through the mad world she lives in.

Excerpt:

“…Is it nice to know you don’t really die?” Thom asked.
Slowly, Cath began to shake. Thom saw it in her shoulders first. She brought her hands to her face, then her knees closer to her chest. Soon, she was shaking violently, gasping in breaths of air through her fingers.
Alarmed, Thom came and sat down next to her bedside again. Her eyes were unfocused, glazed over, and filled with pure terror. She looked like she was about to start hyperventilating. “Cath—”
“You don’t get it, Thom,” she said, her voice cracking. He almost couldn’t hear her. Tears began spilling from her eyes. “Each time I die… I… I go to Hell.”
