Synopsis: Castlebox

('If' I get time to write this month, I'll be working on a middle grade idea I've had hanging around my hard drive all summer. Here's a hasty synopsis:)

Have you ever stared at a sculpted castle of sand or pewter, and imagined yourself shrunken down and exploring the parts you can't see? Maybe climbing the tower steps, leaning out over the battlements, peeking between the arrow loops? That's exactly what happens when cousins Gavin and Sean McGrady touch the wrong piece of their grandfather's fantasy art collection.

They soon learn that all of the magic in the world resides on that one shelf in their grandfather's den. Four sculpted castles -- all that remains of the once mighty 'Compass Kingdoms' -- reduced in size, hidden away, and carefully protected by a long line of hereditary guardians. The four realms are frozen in a single day in time, and when the cousins are pulled into the sleepy world, Gavin learns the ways of the magi and works to restore to the Compass Kingdoms to their full glory. Sean wonders why the Kingdoms were reduced in the first place, and goes in search of an answer.

And once he discovers the truth, Sean will have to do everything he can to oppose his cousin's growing power.
