Brief Author Bio:

Hi! I'm writing away as I write this, even though right now I'm just writing this. I'm also doing a nano, obviously- and I am an avid gamer, at least.. for the games I like? :)

Trying to read more, not so much in November...

Synopsis: A Modern Retelling of the nWo days: Nitro, Thunder and NWCW Splash

This year, I decided to go with a wrestling fanfiction! It's basically an alternate retake on the nWo years of WCW.. but with a few modern storytelling concepts, a serious reworking with the world (no WWE or WWF per say), and a bigger focus on groups. Instead of "Cool heels constantly beating up on WCW," it's a more even power struggle between the top five 'groups'- Lex Lugar and the WCW Loyalists... Dungeon of Doom... Four Horsemen (and their 'bodyguard' group)... Sting and a handful of allies.. and of course the nWo faction itself..

A little less about good vrs evil, and a lot more about shades of grays.. :D

Oh.. along with generous rants, raves, history rewriting and semi relevant side stories.. :D

*last day update* Somewhere along the way, the focus ended up shifting.. and the novel ends up- well, the first 50,000 plus words of my fanfic end up covering a Nitro, a Thunder, and a card from the e-wrestling inspired competition.. heh.. plus a lot of really random side stories that havn't really gone anywhere yet... It's been fun, and challenging, to keep the story going!

(Highlight from the Armstrong brothers vrs. Dungeon of Doom's Brian Pillman, Meng and Barbarian, first card of the fanfic)

So it's Pillman and Steve starting it out. Steve looks like he isn't quite sure he wants to do this at first, but he mans up, and does a quick lil' cowboy shuffle to get the fans behind him. Pillman smiles broadly, then cuts to a pissed off look. The match starts with a stylish but typical tieup, with the two jocking for position. Pillman quickly forces his opponent back into the corner, and breaks cleanly, taking the time to jawjack with the fans.

Good tactic if you wanna get boo'ed. The funny thing is, there is a small but sometimes vocal bit of fans who seem to be attracted by the very actions meant to make them boo. Rebellious, net-surfin' rumor and tape swapin', Illustrated Observers of Wrestling reading fans. Those kind.

There's another lockup, which ends when Steve Armstrong musters up and shoves Pillman backwards, allowing us to get first taste of the near psychotic temper he's developed since his days as a 'fan favorite.' He has a truly VILE look on his face, ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you.

"Pillman looks psychotic right now," Tony observers. "See, Brain, this is what wrestling outside of the WCW does to you. I hope for their sakes the NWO are watching this."

Tony slips into nonsensical flirtations with unjustified federation superiority, as you can probably tell.

I'm not even sure how Bobby the "Brain" answers that one, but I do know that "Flyin' Brian" rushes madly at his opponent, Steve Armstrong, who uses that momentum to execute an above average hiptoss on the newest DOD member Pillman! How.. exciting? Pillman bulls his way back up, and for that stubbornness, eats an excellently performed dropkick from Steve!

Flashing back forward to tonight!

Security's still in Duane's face as we come back from commercial, and neither is saying a word. However, we can see Rodney Tanke and Kevin Von Erich making their way to the ringside to back Duane up. Kevin's got his US title strapped around his waist, naturally.

Finally, the referee goads Security out of the ring, allowing for the much smaller Violence to nail a drop kick to the back of his head! Duane flies forward, going down to a knee. He gets up, but Violence is still attacking from behind! The crowd's boo'ing and Violence shoots Duane into the ropes and catches him coming off with a painful drop kick to the chest which sends Duane back into the ropes. He rushes over Violence who drops down. Violence pops to his feet and ducks under a massive southern lariat style clothesline from Mr. Duane, who staggers forward and turns around, being met by an eye rake from Violence! Duane swings wildly as the referee yells at him to 'knock it off!' Will Violence ever learn to knock it off? Or is he an irredeemable scallywag?

He's got that, "Who, ME?" smile on his face, which you'd never see from his older brother, Security, who incidentally is pacing the ringside like, well, a nervous seven foot security guard pacing the border of a military encampment at night. Ace's on the other side, slapping the mat and cheering for Duane to get back in the action. Which Duane tries to do with those wild swings. Violence ducks one and comes up with a rapid fire set of fists to the midsection.

Rights and lefts which serve to midly stun Duane, and give Violence time to rush at him with a hurracanrana. The move flips Duane on his back. He starts to get up, then comes to a rest on his back. Violence flies into the ropes and bounces off, leaping high into the air and coming down on Duane with a knee drop. He drives the very point of his knee into Duane's forehead!

Duane withers on the mat in agony, which Violence, true to the name, seems to enjoy seeing a good deal. Violence covers him, but is literally hurled off Duane just after the one count. Nonplussed and not impressed, he pulls himself up, measures Duane, and rushes at him with a sliding drop kick as Duane sits up. Viciously, it catches Duane in the back of his neck from behind, sending his body forward, although it doesn't have very much slack since he's sitting up. Violence then decides to slow things down with a chin lock from behind.

He grinds the move in, wearing Duane down and giving fans time to catch their breath, and get ideally, get more involved in the match as they wait for Duane to try to power his way up. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't take long for Duane to do just that. Duane's easily the more powerful of the two, having a good sixty or so pound weight advantage on Violence. It naturally follows that he rams his elbows into Violence's ribs a couple times to break the hold. He rushes towards the ropes. Violence tries to grab his hair from behind to stop Duane, but Duance's hair is just too short. Woulda worked four years ago when Duane was still sporting that stylish mullet type hairdo.

ZOOM!

Duane flies off the ropes, picking up speed as Violence tries to clothesline him. The clothesline seems to have no effect on Duane, who just crashes through Violence and sends him flying through the ropes. Violence pulls himself up and surprisingly, flings himself over the ropes into a catapult cross body block. More surprisingly, Duane's ready for it, so it's no surprise when Duane simply reverses the move into a body slam. Violence gets up, and gets body slammed again. He must be feeling a serious sense of deja vu when he stands up, barely, and it happens again, since he rolls to the outside of the ring and the safe, loving arms of his protective older brother.

Psst- riiight. Security guards him from Duane, but mostly in order to verbally browbeat his younger brother, cursing and telling him to 'get his head in the game!' And other such not so nice things are being said. I can't say what, becuase I'm not paying attention to it.
