Moonbase
an excerpt

“Isn’t ‘Check air scrubber settings’ part of the Disaster Recovery Plan?”
_______

The fog was definitely beginning to clear. A glance at the municipal status page now floating in view indicated that Jack Blaine’s team had vented some of the water vapor into the tunnel system. Pity they couldn’t have recaptured that hydrogen. Someone’s going to pay for that mistake.
__________

Blaine worked the controls and brought up another camera, this one on the last secondary pillar due west of the core about four kilometers. Looking north, directly into a fireball. All he could see was a mess of concrete and steel. There’s too much metal there. The concrete was burning. That can’t be…

Clearly, he was looking at the remains of municipal control. And there was something else there, too, something that didn’t make sense.
_______

Erik soaked in the destruction. With the central part of the crater dome gaping open to space hundreds of meters above him, the landscape below looked as if a hurricane had struck…in a world where the only water was man-made.
